Discussing the tree...

I think it looks quite pretty, although the candles are a bit wonky! Must make sure they are straight, before we light them on Christmas Eve! - Do you think the Firebrigade is on duty on Christmas Eve? - Never mind, we'll get our bucket of water ready, as per usual!

Not the sort of tree I am interested in!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

Great photo, looks like the kids are interested, but certainly not your spaniel!

Not easy to get a good picture of the tree shooting into the light! Sebastian can take the tree or leave it, but he is always there and thereabouts when the Sashas are in the vicinity! He quite likes them, although he would rather you didn't broadcast this! He has his pride! xxx Karin

Great photo with the Sasha kids gathered around.
Mine here is still in the process of being decorated although have had to stop having the real Conifer Trees as it became too much for me to cope with. Sad, as I miss the wonderful pine scent that greets you as you enter the room.
Hoping that you remember to have your camera ready when the candles are lit.
Sasha love from Kendal.

Great Photo's Karin, I love the one with the dog looking out the window and ignoring the Sasha's and gregor's round the tree, so sweet.

... and the firebrigade on speed dial!!! The decorating of the Christmas Tree is getting a bit too much for me too nowadays. That's why I decided to have a really small one this year. Couldn't do completely without, as the Grandchildren are coming. xxx Karin

Sebastian is quite interested in the tree being decorated, but when it's done - it's done! He did check out the Sashas earlier. He always gives them a little sniff and he is amazingly gentle with them. I do wonder what he makes of them! xxx Karin

These photos are lovely! I do like your little candles, they are very pretty. I love the little Sashsa looking on and Sebastian looking out the window, all very sweet!
My tree is still in the box......oh dear!
Hugs Sharon in Spain xx

Having the tree much smaller makes it a good scale for the Sasha and Gregor family. Wow to real candles, I wouldn't dare. One of my favourite books from my childhood was a Ladybird book called 'The Wise Robin' and it had a Christmas tree with real candles, though they are red. For a child growing up in the southern hemisphere the book was a picture of another world - snow, robins and Christmas trees with real candles (we had a real tree, with electric lights).

So nice to hear from you! Where in the Southern Hemisphere, if I may ask? And where do you live now? I come from Austria, where real candles on trees are the 'done thing'! I can't remember having heard of many Christmas tree fires, but I suppose, when you have candles burning on a tree you don't leave the room! I do sometimes have red or gold/silver candles, but white is the classic look for an Austrian tree. There is little red or green in an Austrian Christmas. It is all pastel shades. Very interesting, these cultural variations. Love your blog. I must be quite a task looking after so many 'children'! Have a Happy Christmas! xxx Karin
