Swinging on GIANT 15 FOOT SWING ROPE!!!

This is Raffay, my grandson! Iona's brother. His passion is making videos and posting them to YouTube. This one, although exciting to watch, produced some grandmotherly concerns as to safety. But apparently - I needn't have worried!

Well done Raffay!
I can well understand your grandmotherly concerns here Karin as I used to take 34 eight to eleven years olds on a weeks outdoor activity centre once a year. They also had to swing on a rope like this but it was across a wide pond into which you fell if you didn't swing to and land on the other side.
(Since then health and safety laws have now forbidden this due to picking up any infections from landing in still, stale waters.)

Most impressed with the single handed swings! Obviously he's got good arm muscles to bear his weight for that length of time up in the air...although I'd have liked to have seen him wearing a protective hard hat.)

I think he's a Pro! You can already see his charisma coming out, and his professional demeanor; thanking his viewers so nicely. Mark my words, that boy will become a true Youtube celebrity. I'll be keeping my eye out for him in the future. Very nice video. I especially like the music and the unique and very artistic shots. Well done, Young Man!

Hi Kendal, didn't really expect anyone to actually take the trouble to see the video!!! I just feel I have to support my grandchildren in their ventures. He is a darling boy and I am always surprised what he comes up with! Very nice comments and I will be sure to let him know. xxx

A little follow up on this video. Yesterday Raffay and a friend went to have another swing (with parents in tow). Unfortunately, his friend had an accident and tumbled into the ravine. She was rescued by the Fire Service and the ambulance took her to hospital. She was x-rayed and kept in over night. No bones broken and no head injury, thank goodness, but a very badly hurt leg nevertheless. She is on the way home now. In retrospect Grandma (moi) was quite entitled to be concerned when she saw that video. Probably a vain hope to think that Raffay would stay away from that rope swing in the future despite this accident. Hoping that Edie will recover soon. xxx

Speedy recovery wishes to Raffay's friend Edie.
It is indeed upsetting for all concerned when accidents like this happen on these supervised adventures and challenges but luckily no bones broken and nothing serious this time.
Remember that life is full of risks where ever we are and how ever careful we are.

Kendal so nice of you to send your best wishes to Edie. I think she missed her footing when she returned from the swing and stepped backwards. She is not as experienced as Raffay at these daredevil escapades. I will pass them on with a warning to Raff to take care. xxx
