Introducing Sasha to Austria

Natasha on Holiday
I can’t imagine how Sashas have failed to make their mark in Austria. I would have thought with Switzerland and Germany being close neighbours, it would have been the most natural thing in the world to have introduced Sasha dolls to little girls in Austria. I know there is a great tradition of Schildkröt Dolls in my country, but even so.
As everyone in my family was curious as to why I have become so besotted with Sashas, I took one along – plus half a suitcase full of clothes – to enlighten them! They loved the doll – who wouldn’t - , but they simply went gaga over the clothes and shoes! The quality, the designs, the sheer lunacy of finishing a garment to perfection which, after all, will only be worn by a DOLL! A doll??? A SASHA DOLL! And this one is called Natasha, if you please!
Here are just a few pictures. I made many more, but they seem to have vanished. I suspect that my husband erased them – accidentally, of course!

The house we stayed in

An extraordinary bird carved from a tree.

Natasha enjoying the facilities

Iona and Natasha are both wearing strawberry print dresses and purple tops!
WE ARE TWINS!!!

I love Natasha! But where are my chocolate pancakes. I am starving

No Sasha in view - but this is the Green Lake in Tragoess where we stayed. Magic.

Great photo's Karin. I especially love the one of Iona and Natasha in the same clothes.

and what a lovely place to go on holiday, I'm sure Natasha is making your other Sasha family green with envy that they missed out.

Hi Dee, It was great, especially as the weather played its part. It is where I grew up - well, close by, anyway! I should have taken one of the boys as well, but with the 15k luggage allowance, I was already in trouble! The clothes were a big hit. I took along one of your hats as an example. Alas it never came back home - still sitting on a bench somewhere! As to the rest of the Sasha- they were probably watching the Olympics!!! xxx karin

Ha Ha I am sure whoever found the hat is wondering where the little person is that it belongs to!!

Hopefully it is a kid whose doll needs a nice hat!!!

Doesn't Natasha fit in beautifully amongst all that fantastic scenery. What a wonderful country to have been bought up in and then to go to on holiday.
I agree with you about all the superb clothing and footwear made especially for the Sasha Dolls... but don't they do them justice.
Many thanks for this delightful and interesting post. From Kendal.

Hi, Kendal, So nice to hear from you. You are right - the Sasha dolls deserve beautifully made clothes. They carry them off to perfection! It is lovely to go back to Austria on holiday, but I consider my home to be here! I miss the Austrian weather, the mountains, the gateaux (!!!) and my family, but I find that I have become thoroughly British! xxx Karin
